Alright, before reading further, read this: http://itsjerryandharry.com/index.php?threads/hypocrites.10670/ Thanks, it'll make everything else make more sense. Well, one of my posts explained about the hypocrisy, don't need to explain how it was wrongly used, blah blah blah. Firstly, it's a good thread. Every point essentially, is the truth. Look at it like this: Guys! Look at my awesome creation that took 3 months!: Posted by newuser1 2 weeks ago, 12 views, 1 comment. Another drawing: Posted by MappyTurtle 13 mins ago, 42 views, 12 comments. newuser1 is obviously a new user, therefore isn't known. I however, have been here enough to be known, by hmm, a few people. You are most likely to click my thread as you would of seen me around, unlike newuser1. It's easy to get noticed, just, don't, sigh, ask for attention. There was a thread, stating that this guy was going to leave, on 15th march (I think) wait for it, 2015.... I was talking to people on ts, and we all said 'Attention seeker' and related things. Yes, he wanted attention, but I had never seen him around before, and that's not a good way for people to look at you. Alright, time for Map's look back at when she was new and bad at foruming time! I first joined 4th November to, you may of guessed it, make a staff app... Not the best way to start off, but, meh. I then continued to look around, posting the occasional thing. Eventually, I started talking to a few friends I had recently, and my threads took off from there, as well as how I act on the forums. You can look at some of my earlier posts, where I was super nice in case I accidently did something wrong. Now, I'm not afraid to make flame threads and stuff. I'm also quite known, and that's a fact. I'm not the most well known or close to it, I'm just well known. There are some people who are just as respected, if not more respected then me, with way less likes & posts. If you want to be respected and well known, without being treated like a complete moronic asshole, don't do the following: Double, triple, quadriple & more post. There's an edit button for a reason. Yes, you can double post sometimes, but like me, at least APOLOGISE for doing so, as then people can at least acknowledge the fact you know you did something wrong intentionally but not purposely. Don't randomly get angry at people, or at all. There is a few people out there that cannot control their angry, it seems. Those people tend to be the most hated within this community. Raging at staff, especially on your staff app is a poor decision, that you REALLY need to consider before posting. Try not to swear a lot. Swearing isn't really banned, but excessive is, to my knowledge. Excessive swearing isn't also necessary, and also is a way to show you are really angry, and as I said before, angry people tend to be the most hated. Don't ask for likes, followers, subscribers or anything. Alright, story time again! Back when I had only 76 likes, ahh, those were the days, I versed a good friend of mine, mcc457, first to 100. I barely won, but as I made that thread to announce it, as a joke, I said A few people went off at me for that, and I haven't done it since. Asking for likes is useless, as likes do nothing. Don't bump. This one is important. Yes, I have bumped very few times, but mostly important bumps, as such editing my app & bringing up an old issue. Bringing up unimportant threads is frowned upon. And finally, don't make alts. You may want the Well-known title, as you may think it'll make you seem important. A bad way of getting to Well-known, is through alts. It definitely doesn't bring you respect. Ask anyone, and I mean ANYONE, do you like teolicht? Teolicht? Isn't he that guy with 2-3 alts who used them to get well-known? Yes. After recieving tons of hate of practically everyone, he moved over to hypixel. I would rather be a Active member with respect than a hated Well-known. Alright, back to the point. I may be well-known, but that doesn't mean ALL of my threads are seen. I have threads with 20 views. Ask most people, although they know me, not everyone will say they LIKE me. People have their reasons, but I would rather not have them said. I have plenty of friends, and plenty of acquaintances. I barely have enemies, and if I have fights with people, we solve it like human beings. An example is that Roc & I had a fallout with Shadow, and now that's fixed up without it getting publicised. The most important thing that comes out of this thread is: You may have a low view count on your threads. You may not be popular. You may not have many likes. But remember this: With patience and the right moves, you can become respected. Respected means your threads get messages across to people. If this gets across to even 15 people, I'm ok with that. Respect>popularity.
Well...It was a friendly competition to 100. No prizes or anything. I just used the word versed, got a problem with that? ;-;
Yes I do. It is bad grammar and should not be used. "Versed" is not a word and I do not appreciate seeing its use on this thread. :P In all seriousness, I'll reply with my full response later because my phone is kind of glitching.
This entire community is based on respect. Although, yes, We do need to be nice and considerate with each other, many veterans like Yomc, a multitude of staff members, me, with many other people who has been here since the beginning, really find loopholes and exceptions, and try to clear up these problems. My 'Quite Important" thread addressed a loophole and ended up in a war. So, while we have to be nice, I feel as if there are a select amount if people who need to do the "dirty work" which helps the community in ways people cant imagine
I thought versed was a word too... maybe it's just in British based English, and not American English. Anyways, I remember the like contest. It was harmless. Mappy still has more likes than I do. I've never actually seen a community be based on popularity like this one. This one is truly unique in its hierarchy of popularity. Maybe because they're aren't any adults, and the ones that are are inactive or banned( all the better for our safety)
We both agreed it to be harmless, yet, most people disagreed. It didn't do much, except encourage us to produce better stuff to obtain likes. First to 1000? ;) I'm almost there ;3
