Exercises and diets completely depend on which area of your body you want to focus on
YouTube has a ton of tutorials and exercise videos which can help you achieve the above
    Good luck anyway

The areas I want to focus on can be improved with full-body workouts, since losing overall body fat will slim them. I've been looking on YouTube and I've found a few routines, but finding meal plans is a bit harder it seems like :/

    thank you :)

After any form of exercise, don't eat carbs for the rest of the day, but rather eat proteins. Eating carbs actually makes it worse off for your body, as it absorbs all of the carbohydrates. Also, before and after working out, take time to stretch your body, preferably for ten minutes.

There is only one rule to losing weight and that's calories in < calories out

Don't listen to anything else people tell you, they're all wrong and base their routines on misinformation.

You don't even have to exercise to lose weight. Just eat less food. Count calories. It doesn't matter where you get your calories from (protein, carbs, fat), just count calories.

okay, thanks for the advice :D
Almost everyone I've seen talk about it specifically said not to focus on calories so much, because it can become addictive, therefore an unhealthy habit is formed. I also want to exercise for the other benefits of it as well, not just weight loss. It sucks because so many sources I've found have told me different things, that's why I made this :frown:

thank you for the help :)

Well you probably read one of the many sources that try to scam you.

Weight Loss & Fitness is a HUGE industry with many people who try to make money off of you by selling you their books, products, supplements, workouts, etc. Trust me, calories is the ONLY factor that actually counts.

And yes, exercising can be good for your health, I don't deny that. But if your primary goal is to lose weight, exercise doesn't do anything, calories does.

In fact, exercise can have negative effects because some people hit the treadmill for an hour and get hungry, then think they deserve a snack or something, but eating 1 chocolate bar gives more calories than you burn from the 1 hour of exercise.

The best and most valuable source is your local nutritionist (if you can afford it) or even ask a gym trainer, they know

I was referring mostly to people on YouTube saying that it isn't healthy to pay that close attention to calories, not trying to sell or recommend anything other than exercise and a good diet plan. Plenty of "anorexia stories" on YouTube claim that a huge cause of their eating disorder was paying too much attention to calories, and eventually becoming obsessed with how many of them there were in every single thing they ate. It usually ends with them saying that you shouldn't focus much on calories at all. I understand what you're saying though, and you're right. The key to losing weight is burning more calories than you consume. It's good in moderation, so I will pay closer attention to how many calories I'm consuming in contrast to how many I burn. Thank you so much for your help :D
I'm not in the best financial situation right now, but yeah I'll definitely see who I can talk to. Thanks :)

This is where a calorie count book is helpful. You should eat normally for a day and count how many calories you consumed. From that point you aim to decrease your daily intake to a good standard.
Of course, there are many things people forget to consider:
    • You should use an online calculator or see a doctor about how many calories you must consume to have enough energy to get through the day. It depends on your age, height and weight. Where applicable, your genes may be considered such as your ancestors having heart problems or diabetes.
    • Make sure to test your stength and not just your cardio. Many lose a heap of weight but look floppy because they aren't toned.
    • Drink water. DRINK HEAPS OF WATER. This is a number one priority. It cleanses and helps your systems flow.
    • if anything, just cut down the serving sizes of your meals. There are many useful images online that represent what and how much should be on your plate.
    • Try not to eat too much bread. If you want to be the healthiest when eating bread, whole meal is the deal breaker. White bread is the killer for hips and thighs.
    • Maybe change the milk you drink. Skim may settle better in your digestive system. It depends on the person.
    • SLEEP
In summary, exercise is half of what makes you healthy. The other half is your diet and daily sctivity(sitting down all day isn't good. You should get up and walk around at least every hour. Also make sure you get enough sleep.)

Not true, doing a 1000 ab crunches won't give you a slimmer waist. There's no such thing as spot reduction, your body burns fat from all areas of your body as long as you use more calories than you consume, not just the areas you exercise.

Start counting how many calories you eat every day and weigh yourself every morning after taking a piss. If you are not losing an average of 2 kg per month (1 kg for females), then reduce your daily calories. If you are losing more than 2 kg per month (1 kg for females), eat slightly more calories.

If your goal is purely to lose weight, then it doesn't matter what you eat. Don't listen to people who say "don't eat bread" or "don't eat too much fat", it's all bullshit. Eating a lot of fat won't necessarily make you fat, in fact there are diets that specifically tell you to only eat fat (ketogenic diet) and it'll still work fine as long as you don't eat too many total calories.

There was one professor who only ate Twinkies and other junk food for 10 weeks and lost 27 pounds, because it's all about them calories: http://edition.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/11/08/twinkie.diet.professor/index.html

If you drink a lot of soda, then you can probably lose weight just by only drinking diet sodas from now on alone, because e.g. a can of Coke has 140 calories.

If you do 1000 abs crutches all in one of course they won't give you a slimmer waist. It takes time and patience in order to create the body you want. I dont really agree with all the "count your calories" because if you eat for example a big ice cream or even a few pieces of a chocolate cake and then eat nothing for the rest of the day then
1st you basically have all the calories you need in a day
    2nd you wont achieve anything
Diets arent that good either. They can destroy your stomach (exactly what happened to my dad when his nutritionist gave him a fairly strict diet).
Exercising is more of a body shaper. There are exercises for e v e r y t h I n g. If you want to get slimmer and healthier then it's best to be decently active and eating a logical and healthy, in a sense, amount of food. And also exercise cant "destroy your body" if you do it right.
Cross fit is also the worst type of exercise imo
Oh and everyone has a different body. If I eat twinkies and junk food like the professor I will get more fat than I usually do. Find what's best for you body and not what looks best in your eyes.

Yes, if you eat too much ice cream you will have all the calories you need in a day, so that's not a smart thing to do. If you don't eat anything for the rest of the day beyond that though, you can still lose weight. That's the point I'm trying to make. It doesn't matter if you eat 1 meal a day or 10 meals a day

Of course it's not healthy to eat an unbalanced diet, but if we're talking strictly about losing weight, you can achieve your goal by only eating ice cream.

If you're trying to build muscle, then you would need to do the opposite and actually eat more calories than your body needs in a day.

Exercise can make your body more "toned" meaning bigger/fuller muscles, but it doesn't slim. It can create the "illusion" of slimming because you're making your muscles bigger and making the skin around it tighter.

Actual slimming only works by reducing overall body fat which can not be achieved with purely exercise and can also not be "spot reduced".

Meaning, if you do 1000 ab crunches every day you won't start losing fat around your abs. You will lose weight if you burn more calories than you consume, and you will burn it all around your body at once, not only near the abs.

If you have more questions feel free to ask. I bulk and cut multiple times a year with no trouble at all.

A friend I have ate only ice cream for a whole summer and she ended up losing 14kg and she almost turned into an anorexic person. It's the worst thing to do honestly and no one should promote that kind of life style. It can lead to horrible consequences. Balanced diets are more suitable in this case. Sure if your goal is to build muscle then you need to consume more calories.
That's why I said it's a body shaper. I didn't say it makes you slimmer, it just makes you stronger and healthier looking :)

Idk if this helps but I managed to lose a little weight (just like 4 pounds or so) when I visited the Netherlands.
I assume it's because I simply cut out a lot of bad sugar during my stay in that country and also the fact that there was A LOT of a walking and biking. Any of the food I took in was burned out immediately along with a little extra.
Sadly, now that I've returned to America, I gained it back :( I don't necessarily need to lose weight, but I did feel much more positive about my body when I did.

Maybe the answer is to move to a another country lol.

Yes, definitely eat a balanced diet. Just don't worry too much about "saturated fats" "simple sugars" "complex sugars" "gluten" or whatever bullshit they tell you about.
