I know this isnt what you were saying, but you must admit that being a staff member comes with a huge amount of popularity.

most of these are staff.

 

I didn't say anything like that. I'm saying that when everybody suddenly wants to be friends with you and someone else doesn't, that pisses some people off. When I first got staff, if I would see someone ignoring me,
I'd get upset. Eventually, I just realized everything wasn't a popularity contest. I see the same thing in some other staff members.

 

That isn't really accurate because people tend to like spam

@Meckering I think maybe you could've approached the thread from a slightly different angle as a few people are missing the point (maybe use different examples in the thread to the ones I assume you researched or learnt from in a lecture). I'm gonna try and quickly clear it up sorry if I'm wrong about anything.

I'm pretty sure you're both missing the point a bit. As shown by the statement at the end -

the objective behind this thread was to clear up this argument of "if mods change" by showing the science and proof behind it. The idea was to prove the fact that "power changes" not to imply that "mods change negatively as a result of power" (power in loose terms because this is a Minecraft server). Although the examples were all negative and extreme notice that he never once states himself that "the change to mods is negative". There's no flame war here dw.

Actually I think the answer has similar psychological roots to the whole "power changes" thing so @Meckering ?

I think that reading through my replies to people would help. 3 or so people have commented saying basically the same thing. That some people change, and some don't. Which my reply was, everything is person to person (which is just saying it again).

I did reply to @Expedect but i included a photo that would probably cause drama, so i removed it. Basically my reply was reiterating the statement at the end.

Fucking thank you. For an example of what is going through my head as i write this reply, the change could be good for the server/players as you (can (again, everything is person to person (last time im saying that))) adapt to a more administrative persona. (CAN CAN CAN CAN)

From what i can see you're not questioning my examples/comparisons, but read my replies to @TheMint if you are.

I think this is starting to cause problems in my opinion.

I wouldn't reply if I wasn't certain I had read it all, I assure you that my reply was 100% my opinion and that i've read the thread 3 times now.

I completely respect your opinion, but using these experiments on prisoners literally made me feel somewhat worthless.

It's kind of like comparing the staff to the Russian sleep experiment, it's disturbing as hell.
Maybe using "prisoners" (as they have already committed crimes as we just apply for staff and become a staff voluntarily) as an example of our behavior differences (which isn't even a thing) isn't a good idea.

 

Are you really comparing an experiment focusing on how the leader of Germany, controlled his soldiers during World War 2...

to a staff role on a block game?

 

I'll say something about this.

I was completely abandoned and backstabbed by those I called friends because I got staff, which is true. I saw it coming however, they had been on edge with me, luckily, I had some friends who stuck with me, and even some of those who supported me because of this. I had known this group for around 2 years, and it had hurt to see them turn on me, however, since then, I've been told by the friends I have left that I've only changed for the better, maturing a lot, it's changed the character I once had a year ago.

 

In 2014, when every single one of my friends got staff, I lost all of them. This means that they stopped talking to me, they only replied with cold answers, etc.

This is why I got pissed when @Smg and @Darkstorm77 got staff.

Here is a list of the friends that have not changed at all since they got promoted.

Yes, they've matured, but they didn't turn boring. They don't stand around in the server afking and doing nothing no no they actually do stuff with their friends.

You might say that you haven't changed, ofc, you didn't notice it. But we did, and I think the point of this thread is to make you think a little about it. (I didn't mean that as agressive at all, sorry if it sounded that way.)

I thought it was pretty obvious that he isn't literally comparing you to prisoners, just giving two examples of change of power.
I don't see anything to get so worked up about.....

I can understand why you would be annoyed with some of the replies, but in my opinion, the thread is fine.


Also, people who claim to not change when they get staff, but also claim that they matured when they got staff, please... just please

I think ya'll are going too specific with the experiments.
He was talking in a more general statement not specific through my understanding. He meant the experiments as the example of change with power = change of attitude but it doesn't mean all staff are faggots in a specific term. It means the position given to you can change you. Like @matrizzle said.

And Expedect in finding it offensive at some way, I respect your opinion but you're going to literal in analyzing/understanding what he meant. Its an example of change of attitude as the change of power, it doesn't mean he is calling you an abusive member.
